Richmond, VA – The Speaker of the House of Delegates has appointed Delegate T. Scott Garrett, M.D. to the conference committee for the state budget bills. Seven members of the House of Delegates serve on this committee to negotiate with the Senate conference committee members on the final budget conference reports.
“It is an honor to be appointed by Speaker Cox to this role for a second year. I appreciate his confidence and trust and look forward to continuing my work on the state’s biennial budget through negotiations with the Virginia Senate budget conferees. There are many moving parts in this year’s budget negotiations, particularly in tax policy, education, and health care. As always, I will continue to represent the values and priorities of the people of central Virginia as we seek to responsibly fund the core essential functions of state government for all Virginians,” said Delegate Garrett.
“Delegate Scott Garrett has been instrumental in his role as the Chairman of the Health & Human Resources Sub-Committee within the House Appropriations Committee and he will play a vital role in working with the Senate to reach a balanced budget that works for all Virginians. I look forward to Scott's leadership and expertise specifically in the area of healthcare and am eager for a budget that will pass both chambers of the General Assembly,” said Speaker Kirk Cox.
Delegate T. Scott Garrett, M.D. represents the 23rd District in the Virginia House of Delegates, which includes portions of Amherst County, Bedford County, and the City of Lynchburg.
