Lynchburg, VA- Today, Governor Terrance McAuliffe formally rejected a request from Jens Soering to transfer from a Virginia prison to his hometown in Germany. On November 13, 2015, Delegate Scott Garrett and 17 of his colleagues in the General Assembly wrote a letter to the Governor, urging him to deny Mr. Soering’s request.
"I appreciate the Governor’s consideration of this meritless and reckless attempt to subjugate the laws of our Commonwealth. I will continue to advocate for the commonsense enforcement of the good public safety laws already on the books. Today, due process and justice have prevailed," said Delegate Garrett.
Delegate T. Scott Garrett, M.D. represents the 23rd District in the Virginia General Assembly, which includes portions of Amherst County, Bedford County, and the City of Lynchburg.
